Entry Day to our new topic 'Say Cheese'

Year 1 dressed up as our favourite character and posed in our very own catwalk show. We took a photo of each other using iPods and sent them to print. We looked at our photos and wrote a list of top tips to improve them.

We re-enacted our catwalk show and remembered our top tips to improve our photographs.

Next we are going to learn how to edit our photographs.

In year 1, we have been thinking about our goals and what we will do to achieve them.
We looked at morality, thoughtfulness, enquiry , respect, communication and cooperation.
Here we are showing our goals without moving a muscle!

We also created some still pictures to show our personal goals. Our personal goals are Morality, Respect, Resilience, Cooperation, Communication, Thoughtfulness, Enquiry and Adaptability. Can you guess what each picture is showing?

Year one worked together to solve the puzzles that they made at home! Great work parents - well done and thank you for supporting your children with this.

We completed an obstacle course and then wrote instructions on how to do it.

Professor Day- We all dressed up and did lots of fun research!

Year 1 have enjoyed making puzzles at home as part of their 'Brainwaves' topic. They're very excited about solving each other's puzzles on Friday!

Year 1 Christingle Celebration

Year 1 and 2 held a Christingle making workshop with parents. Christingles are made from an orange decorated with red tape, sweets and a candle. Each piece of the Christingle holds special symbolism to help children understand  the importance of Jesus and its relevance at Christmas time.

  • The orange represents the world
  • The red ribbon (or tape) symbolises the love and blood of Christ
  • The sweets and dried fruit represent all of God’s creations
  • The lit candle represents Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness

Afterwards we held a traditional Christingle parade on the school playground with children, parents and grandparents whilst singing Christmas carols.
