Over the past few weeks in Nursery we have been reading and exploring the story 'The Colour Monster'. This is a great story all about colour and feelings. We are teaching the children about all the different feelings, and which colour represents which emotion.
Happy-Yellow
Sad-Blue
Angry- Red
Love- Pink
Scared- Black
Calm- Green
We are encouraging the children to talk about what the feelings may look like to them, and what makes them feel this way. This is a lovely book to read at home, and to talk about feelings and how we can overcome them.
Through our story the Colour Monster we have created our own Colour Monsters using different ways of mark making. This included painting with mashers, using our muscles to create bubbles, rolling marbles, sticking and colouring. We had discussions whilst the children created about what makes them feel that emotion. We also explored colour in different ways, and sorted the colours into emotion jars similar to in the story.
