ARRANGEMENTS FOR FRIDAY 2.3.18

In order to ensure the safety of all we have had to make adjustments to our routines for today.

ALL SCHOOL PERIMETER GATES ARE CLOSED EXCEPT THE MAIN GATES OFF COLIN AVENUE.  THE MAIN GATE IS THE SOLE GRITTED ENTRANCE UNTIL WEATHER CONDITIONS HAVE IMPROVED ENOUGH TO PREVENT POSSIBLE SLIPS, TRIPS AND FALLS ON UNGRITTED ROUTES.

ADEQUATE GRITTING IS IN PLACE IN DESIGNATED AREAS, AND IF SENSIBLE FOOTWEAR IS BEING WORN, THEN THERE IS MINIMAL CHANCE OF ANYONE FALLING OVER DUE TO GROUND ICE OR SNOW

(We are sure you will understand that it is simply not possible to clear a pathway for pedestrians around our whole site and to all our classroom entry points and then up-keep it as more snow falls or ice develops.)

9.15 onwards startchildren will not be marked late if they arrive before 10.00.  (We need a staggered start because the volume of traffic will be great through limited access points.)

  • Entry into school will only be via the main school entrance
    • KS2 pupils will enter through the main Admin/Office entrance
    • For KS1 & Reception  pupils: two clear paths have been made off the KS1 play ground:
      • Year 1 and Year 2 will enter using the first turnoff located to the left of the  canopy area;  Teachers will be on hand to accept pupils.
      • Reception children will enter via the second path a bit further along.  Teachers will be on hand and parents will be allowed to escort their children into the Reception classes.
      • Nursery pupils will access Nursery in the usual way.

As many staff as possible will be on hand to help direct.

A handful of teachers may not make it into school, but we plan to muddle through to accommodate all pupils.

As parents ourselves, we understand that these weather conditions are dangerous under foot; the winds are perishingly cold for pupils to be out in.  With all the changes to the school day and the inconvenience this will cause, any parent who makes the decision not to send their children to school will not be penalised.  The child’s absence record will not be affected.   It will not affect those with 100% attendance.  However, we are trying to strike a happy medium by also supporting those parents who need to work.

Planned home time is 3.15pm.  We will be in touch throughout the day should this change.
