If your child needs to isolate but the school is not in a full or partial closure, and is well enough to be able to complete work, a paper pack of work can be requested for your child to be collected at the Main Reception. Remote learning electronically will not be available in individual cases such as this. Any questions need to be through our contact@oldcleepa.co.uk email address or via the telephone. Work will be as per the Curriculum guidance
Old Clee Primary Academy will provide access to a full National Curriculum via our school website at www.oldcleeparimaryacademy.co.uk. Under the ‘Home Learning’ tab, each year group posts a full weeks learning for all National Curriculum subjects in line with what is being taught in school. All year groups upload daily teacher led maths and writing videos which guide pupils and parents throughout the week. In addition, we have included a virtual phonics, reading, maths and PE classroom whereby a wealth of resources can be accessed.
Pupils will be expected to complete the daily maths and writing teacher led activities as well as a home reading and phonics activity. The rest of the week can be timetabled to ensure other curriculum subjects are completed by the end of the week.
We teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school wherever possible and appropriate. However, we have needed to make some adaptations in some subjects. For example, pupils in school may complete a hands on design and technology lesson whilst remote learning may focus on the design or evaluate aspect of DT.
We expect that remote education (including remote teaching and independent work) will take pupils broadly the following number of hours each day:
Key Stage 1 |
Pupils are expected to complete a minimum of 3 hours learning each day. |
---|---|
Key Stage 2 |
Pupils are expected to complete a minimum of 4 hours learning each day. |
Pupils will access the full weeks learning via the school website. This is uploaded in advance ready for a Monday morning at 9am. All lessons from the previous week are deleted by 12pm on a Monday. At Old Clee Primary Academy we acknowledge that pupils will benefit from a flexible timetable when learning from home, therefore, all learning remains on the website for a full 7 days.
We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home. We take the following approaches to support those pupils to access remote education:
At Old Clee, we appreciate that home learning will be challenging and require some timetabling throughout the day. All teams are on hand to provide remote support through zoom, via telephone calls and email. Teams have provided an example timetable for you to follow, however, we appreciate all families are different therefore it is the responsibility of parents to decide what works best for their household. The following support is available:
A member of each teaching team have been inviting your child/ren to a daily live ‘check in’ meeting through zoom. We will continue to do this throughout the lockdown period. If you would like your child to attend, simply email the teachers using the year group email address requesting an invite code. Your invite will be emailed to you prior to the meeting starting.
Daily zoom timings are as follows:
A member of each teaching team is also monitoring the year group email throughout the day. If you would like feedback on your child’s work, please contact the year group’s email address and a member of the team will be in touch within 48 hours. The address is your child’s year group followed by oldcleepa.co.uk. For example: Year1@oldcleepa.co.uk. Simply adapt this to the year group you would like to contact.
A member of your child’s teaching team is also making weekly wellbeing phone calls to all children at home. This is a lovely opportunity for the teacher to ‘check in’ and for your child to speak with them and ask any questions they may have. Please note that not all teachers will be in school when making calls, therefore it will show as a ‘private’ number. If you miss the call and phone the school, they are likely to be working from home. You can contact them using the year group email address.
All year groups will monitor pupil engagement weekly. Our aim is to speak with every child over the telephone to provide wellbeing and academic support. In addition to this, all children are invited to a ‘teacher check in’ zoom meeting daily and encouraged to return their work via email for marking and feedback. Paper packs can also be left for marking and will be receive feedback via email. Any pupil who has not been in contact with staff by Friday morning will receive an email/text via our parent mail platform. Any remaining pupils the team have not been able to contact by Friday afternoon will receive a letter through the post asking them to get in touch.
We recognise that some pupils, for example some pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those pupils in the following ways:
