Welcome to Year 2!
Today
is a great day to learn something
new!
2RJ - Mrs Johnson & Mrs Horrocks
2LR – Miss Ridgeway and Mrs Challis
A big hello and warm welcome from the Year 2 team! We look forward to sharing all of our wonderful learning with you all!
Daily Routines
Please ensure that your child brings their yellow home/school contact book to school every day. This book is used to communicate messages between school and home. Please also use this to communicate any changes in your child's home time arrangements. Your child will also record their weekly test scores within this book too.
Please can you also ensure that your child brings their reading record, Phonics book bag book/ZPD reading book and their library book to school each day. We recommend that all children bring a water bottle in to school daily. This must contain fresh water only. For hygiene reasons, they must be taken home, washed and refilled daily. They must be clearly labelled. Children can refill them during the school day too. Anything other than water will not be allowed to be consumed by your child during the school day unless you can provide written medical evidence from your GP explaining why this cannot be so. On receiving this you will then need to fill in a Medical Health Care plan. See section 4. • If your child has a packed lunch a second drink should be included. However, no fizzy drinks are allowed to be brought into school. Children having school lunches will be provided with water.
PE
Please come to school in the appropriate PE kit every Monday (2LR) or Thursday (2RJ) unless told otherwise. Please check the uniform policy for the full list of appropriate kit. Earrings must be removed on PE days unless pupils are able to remove them themselves.
Homework
Your child will be tested on a Thursday (weekly) on both their spellings and personal times tables.
Please ensure that your child goes onto times table rockstars at least once a week. This is an important requirement of their homework. If you have any problems with logging on then please speak to your child's teacher. Please ensure your child brings back their printed times table practise each Friday.
Your child will also be asked to learn and practise their KIRFS (Key instant recall facts). They will be given every two weeks to practise further new ones. Cycle 1 will be the first KIRFS tested, moving through to cycle 3 and then 5 and so on, every two weeks. These will be tested at the end of the half term.
