Today was Parliament day at Old Clee! Debating, painting, canvassing, voting… and even a visit from The Mayor!
Today, we had a special visit from a team member from the Humberside Fire and Rescue. We looked at different types of crossing, how to protect ourselves using different types of clothing items(helmet) and how to walk across the road safely. Can you name the 5 different crossings? (Hint - some are related to bird names eg Puffin crossing).
Maths: Perimeter
This week, we’ve been learning all about perimeter. Today, we spent time estimating and measuring the distance around different objects, including the MUGA and the playground.
We kickstarted our anti-bullying week wearing our odd socks this year! We have been challenged as a school by Mes Hazelwood-Collins to try and get as many acts of respect as possible. These are being displayed on our classrooms doors so we can show off how respectful we are at Old Clee!
A very proud and respectful day today. All of the children in year 4 behaved impeccably during our silence, remembering the heroes who died to save us.

Today we made a hypothesis and then carried out 3 experiments to help us confirm our hypothesis. We used our retrieval skills to think about what we already know about how sounds are made. Then we used a range of equipment to see if we could show objects vibrating.
In science we have been chemists, looking at the properties of materials. We investigated how particles in solids, liquids and gases behave. We predicted which balloon contained a solid, liquid or gas and then justified our reasoning. We had great fun popping the balloons to see if our predictions were correct.
