Curriculum Overview- Summer 2

England!! Today we celebrated England making the Euro finals by playing many different games in PE. We had a penalty shoot out, played team races, including dribbling our ball. We also took part in a football themed 'Squiggle whilst you Wiggle' session.

Summer- This half term we have been talking about Summer, talking about how to keep ourselves safe in the sun. We have also been exploring places people visit on holidays, and talking about animals under the sea. We also had a visit from an organisation who spoke to us about our bodies, our private areas and how to keep ourselves safe.

The children have been so pleased to see the bulbs they planted have now flourished into beautiful flowers. Through our 'on the farm' theme we have looked at growth, and created our own cress heads as well as seeing how plants take up the water, through the celery science experiment.

In Nursery we have been learning about the farm. We have been looking at what types of food grow on a farm, the animals that live there and how the different fruit and vegetables grow.

Number Day- We took part in lots of different activities throughout the week and during PE we played lots of number games and enjoyed different number dances!

This week in nursery we spoke about what we knew about Spring. This then led us onto a conversation about Easter and we spoke about what Easter is and how it is celebrated.

World Book Day 2021- Helicopter Stories, The Masked Reader, Zoom, Quizzes and lots of fun!

Today we tried lots of different fruits and toppings to celebrate Pancake Day!

Nursery Curriculum Overview Autumn Term

In the run up to Christmas we took part in lots of different learning opportunities. We read the Stick Man, made Christingles, decorated our own reindeer biscuits, had a visit from Father Christmas and took part in our Christmas Showcase. (See school video section under 'children' tab for our Christmas Showcase videos).

Unique Day- Today we celebrated being UNIQUE. We spoke about what the word is and we discussed our likes and dislikes.

The children have recently noticed the change in weather, which has prompted us to explore and discuss signs of Winter. We spoke about and felt the ice that had formed in our nursery garden and took part in our own experiment of freezing water.

Over the past couple of weeks in nursery we have been reading the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We have also been talking about shape, colours and practicing our fine motor skills.

Children in Need 2020

Look at all of the fun learning we have been doing at nursery over the past couple of weeks. We have been talking about changes during autumn, exploring the Gruffalo story and taking part in Remembrance Day activities.

Bonfire night
At nursery we have been talking about fireworks. We have been talking about how the fireworks look and sound, as well as discussing how to keep safe around them.
We made our very own firework and firework pictures in nursery

Harvest

This week in Nursery we have been talking about Harvest. We have been looking where fruit and vegetables come from and how farmers use scarecrows to keep their crops safe. We have made our very own scarecrow to use in our nursery garden to protect our bulbs which we have planted. We have also performed 'Dingle Dangle Scarecrow' with shakers we have made ourselves.

The children have been helping empty the old sand into a wheelbarrow, ready for the new sand to go in!

At nursery we took part in some science experiments. We positioned the cups around different places of the nursery environment to see which would collect the most rain water. We also used the torches and CD's to see if we could make a rainbow in the sun outdoors.
