Important information

Home School books 📚

Please bring your yellow home/school contact book to school every day. This book is to inform the class teacher of any change to collection/drop off routines. It is also used to pass messages or information to your teacher and also to enable the teacher to communicate messages back to parents.

Reading books 📖

Your child will be given a reading book and a green Reading Record. Please return these to school each day. The reading books will be changed on a Tuesday and a Friday. We encourage as much home reading as possible. We recommend the children read a minimum of 3 times a week at home to continue to develop their skills. Please make a note of your child’s reading in their Reading Record.

PE 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️

PE is on Wednesday - please send your child to school wearing their PE kit every Wednesday.

💧 Water bottle

Please send your child to school with a bottle of water each day. This is for their use only throughout the day to keep hydrated.

⭐️ Our stars of the week ⭐️

Goodbye butterflies 🦋

We were very excited when our butterflies came out of their cocoons! They were painted lady butterflies. We have enjoyed watching the fly around and eat the fruit and flowers we gave them. This week we released our butterflies. It was exciting to see them fly away! We hope they have a lovely life and continue on their lifecycle. Fly butterfly fly!

Football mania ⚽️

We enjoyed supporting England throughout the Euro 2020 competition. We made flags and posters to decorate our class. We looked on the world map to find out which country we were playing against. We even practised our football skills in our PE lessons. We loved singing the football song “Football’s coming home!”

It’s coming home day!⚽️⚽️

We came to school in red and white clothes to support England in the Euros. We had lots of fun getting into the football spirit by singing songs, designing our own football shirts and footballs. We scored lots of goals against our teachers in a penalty shoot out. Come on England!⚽️

Butterflies 🦋

We have had an exciting week learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. We have been writing about the process using time connectives. We have done some fantastic craft work and ordering of the life cycle.

Our caterpillars have now turned into cocoons and we can’t wait for them to turn into butterflies 🦋

Our class caterpillars 🐛

We were very excited to receive a special delivery! The hungry caterpillar sent us some of his friends to look after! Each class has 5 caterpillars. We have enjoyed talking about what they are doing and how they are changing. We are looking forward to them making cocoons and turning into butterflies just like in the story! 🦋

The Very Hungry Caterpillar 🐛🦋

We have enjoyed learning about The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We have been writing about our favourite part of the story and drawing pictures. We have been retelling the story with our friends in the role play area using different props. We have been doing some lovely art work and designing our own butterflies. We enjoyed going on a minibeast hunt outside. It’s been very fun!

Mental health week 😀

We have been talking about our feelings and thinking about what makes us happy. We completed a Bee Happy 🐝 activity showing the things that make us happy. We had some brilliant ideas from family, friends, weather, pets, food and toys!

We are story tellers 📖

This week we have been working together to act out the story of Jack and the beanstalk. We remembered the story in the correct order and used the masks and props to tell the story. It was lots of fun!

Writing instructions and number day 🔢

This week we have been writing instructions on how to plant seeds in our literacy. We have enjoyed watching our cress, lettuce, poppies and marigolds grow. This week we planted some peas and carrots 🥕. We took part in number day at the end of the week and enjoyed exploring numbers in many different ways. We worked together to put the numbers in order and make a big number line. We made our own numbers using 2 and 3 digits!

Growing 🌼

We have been learning and writing about the needs of a plant. We have planted some flowers - poppies and marigolds! We are excited to see them grow. Our cress and lettuce have already started to grow! We have been retelling the story of Jack and the beanstalk. It is fun acting the story out with our friends in the story area.

Plants 🌸

We have had a super week back at school learning all about plants! We have been learning the plant names and writing about our favourite flowers. We went on a plant hunt and enjoyed looking for all of the different plants on the school grounds. We also planted cress and lettuce seeds. We are excited to look after the plants in the classroom and watch them grow!

Forest School 🌲

We had a fantastic time at Forest School! We used our craft skills to make a wooden bunny. We used our investigative skills on the scavenger hunt to help the bunnies find the treasure - carrots! 🥕 We were so excited to go around the real camp fire and toast marshmallows! They were delicious! All of the children in Reception were super sensible and safe, well done everyone! 😊

Happy Easter! 🐣

We have been getting egg-cited 🥚 for Easter! We talked about what Easter means to us and how we enjoy egg hunts and chocolate from the Easter bunny! We also learnt about the Easter story and why we celebrate Easter. We even had a special message from Father Nick from Old Clee Church. We enjoyed making Easter cards and craft. We tasted hot cross buns and most of the class liked them! It was fun doing the Easter Bunny dances.

Red nose day 😀
We came to school in non uniform to raise money for Comic Relief. We practised our aiming skill playing hit the red nose and we practised our balancing skills in the nose and spoon race! We made our own funny faces.
