Daily Items

Home-school books and reading books and records should be brought into school every day. It is also encouraged that your child brings their own bottle of water each day as well as a waterproof coat due to the changing weather.

PE Kit

Year 6 pupils will have PE on a Tuesday and are asked to come to school in PE kit. Please remember to remove any jewellery.

Homework

Each week children will have personalised spellings, times tables and key maths facts which they must learn off by heart. These will be set on a Friday and assessed the following Friday.

Multiplication tables is an on-going part of homework and will have a different focus each week. This is extremely important to Year 6 as knowing times tables facts will help with many aspects of maths and SATs preparation.

Please see the newsletter below for details about what we will be learning over the term.

We're a Knockout!

Due to PGL being cancelled earlier in the year, our Year 6 children had a great time on the field on Friday to make up for this! We had inflatables, a foam pit, obstacle courses and team challenges to complete over the day. The children were in 8 teams competing for the title and a medal! We had a lovely picnic out on the field at lunchtime and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities! Congratulations to our winning team..... The Toxic Toes!

Biomedical Science Visit

We have been very lucky today to have a visit from Jake Hunter, who works as a trainee biomedical scientist for Oncologica. Jake came to speak to the children about the role of a biomedical scientist and what they have worked on during the pandemic. The children completed practical science experiments to help them further understand this area of expertise.

Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Year 6 had a lovely day celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. We made bunting, flags and designed a stamp in preparation for our party in the afternoon.

Whilst we were outside, we played games and had a Year 6 talent show! After that, we enjoyed our party food, national anthem and singing along to some songs with the rest of the school.

World Book Day

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS DAY

Year 6 had a lovely day in mixed classes completing a range of activities.

Throughout the day, we took part in a yoga and wellbeing session, painted and decorated a feather to be part of the Old Clee community, set SMART targets to achieve a personal goal and took part in a performing arts session to take us out of our comfort zone.

Please see the videos below of our performance!

Stranger Danger

On 23rd February, local police officers came in to talk to us about stranger danger. They made sure we knew who safe strangers were and what to do if we felt in danger. We now all know the key steps of 'No, Yell, Run, Tell!' if we find ourselves in danger.

Bikeability

Lots of the Year 6 children have spent two days completing their bikeability cycling proficiency training this week. It has been great to see them active and engaged learning really important life skills. The children have listened well, worked hard and all passed their Level 1 or Level 2 course! We would like to say a big thank you to the Lincs Inspire Team for working with our children and so many of the local residents for their kind words when they have seen our children out on the roads.
