Researching and Understanding the Work of Carl Linnaeus

Activity One:

 

Read the short information on Carl Linnaeus and his ideas on classifying plant, animals, humans, fossils and rocks.

 

What do you think it means by 'flowering' and 'non-flowering' plants? Why do you think he decided to classify plants in this way? 

Activity Two: 

 

Match the pictures to Carl Linnaeus' classification key.

Activity Three: 

 

Look at the classification key from Carl Linnaeus compared to the way we classify in modern day.
