Year 1 had a lovely time and enjoyed trying the different fruit at their picnic!
We are so lucky that the musicians from Come Dance With Me came to visit us. We enjoyed listening to their beautiful music and joining in with some dances.

Roll up, Roll up! Year 1 have become circus performers. We had a wonderful morning with Circus Avago. They taught us how to juggle, spin plates, ride unicycles and walk a tightrope.
1RC had a fantastic time creating freeze frames of life inside a castle
1KH had a fabulous afternoon creating freeze frames of life inside a castle.
1KH have been looking at the properties of materials and deciding which materials would make a good shield and why. We drew a design and followed it so that we could make our own shields. We were so proud of the finished product!
1KH are so excited to start their new topic 'Knights and Castles'. We've started off the term by learning our new story 'The Knight Who Wouldn't Fight'.
1KH have been learning all about 'Tiddler' this week. It's a story about a little fish who is always late for school! 1KH have been learning actions so that they can retell the story.
1KH enjoyed putting their senses to the test. They used their noses to smell different scents and write about them. They also used their hands to touch hidden objects and describe how they felt.
1KH enjoyed being super scientists this afternoon. We investigated how sound works and made paper cup telephones to see if sound can travel down a piece of string.
Year 1 have been learning about the different senses. This week we have been making paper telephones. The children had some much fun talking to their friends using these.
Year 1 are learning about the body. We have been exploring our senses. Today 1AS have been testing out 'hearing'. They have been mini Alexander Graham Bells inventing the telephone!
1KH had a 'whale' of a time at The Deep!
1KH had a fantastic afternoon learning about 2D shapes and drawing them.
1RC had a fantastic time dressing up as characters for World Book Day!

On Tuesday 5th March 1RC went to the Deep. The children had a fantastic time and learnt more about sea life.
On Thursday the 28th February 1AS went on their school trip to the Deep. We were all very excited!

1KH loved being independent learners today to find the features of a good piece of writing.
1KH are so excited to start their new topic- Sea Life. We have begun our new term by learning the story of Billy's Bucket.
Spelling Overview for Term 2 (A)
1KH would like to introduce their new school councillor
'Celebration of Learning' Today parents came in to help 1RC make some fabulous christmas bags to sell at our up and coming Christmas Fare!
1KH have been learning all about the Gunpowder Plot this term. We even acted out the story to one another!
On the 6/11/18 1KH took their models out to the bonfire to burn them. We had enjoyed watching the flames and talked about why it isn't a good idea to build a house out of cardboard and wool!
Last week in 1KH we designed and made houses out of different materials so that we could burn them on a bonfire. We had so much fun.
In year one we set fire to the houses we made. It demonstrated what happens to some materials if they are set on fire. We decided it wasn't a good idea to build a house out of paper and cardboard!

In Year 1, we have been learning about the Gunpowder Plot. We acted out what happened and used masks to show our characters! We made houses out of different materials and even had a bonfire to see how they burn !

Year 1 Term 1B Spelling Overview
In Literacy, 1AS have been learning all about poems. We have acted one out and even written one ourselves!
In 1AS, we have learnt all about Trees. We even went on a tree hunt in the playground !
1RC have also been learning about 'The Good Samaritan'. Here they are acting out their story.
In RE 1KH have been learning and acting out the story of The Good Samaritan. They had lots of fun!
During the last two weeks of term 1KH have been learning all about poetry. They learnt and acted out the poem 'Walking by the Seaside' and decided to write their own poem called 'Walking in the Jungle'. They brainstormed lots of great adjectives and verbs so that we can use them in our poems.
1KH had so much fun at the start of term learning the actions to our story 'Monkey Puzzle'. They even rewrote the story for themselves!
The children in 1RC have been learning about poetry. They learnt and acted out the poem 'Walking by the Seaside'. They looked at the features of a repetitive poem.
In Maths 1RC have been learning how to add two numbers using cubes and ten frames.
1RC have been learning and acting out the story Monkey Puzzle! They then wrote their own version of the story, here is a WAGOLL (What A Good One Looks Like!)
